OT 'Fitness-to-drive' Decision Training Aid

Welcome to the fitness-to-drive training aid website that gives you the opportunity to think about how to make recommendations about a client's fitness-to-drive. The decision-training aid was developed using the findings of a project that was supported by the UK Occupational Therapy Research Foundation (UKOTRF). The project was led by Professor Priscilla Harries and Professor Carolyn Unsworth.

The scenarios that you will see are about clients referred for an occupational therapy driver assessment. The aim of the training aid is to improve the decision making capacity of occupational therapists assessing the driving ability of older and/or drivers with disabilities.

You will be presented with a series of scenarios and you will be asked to judge whether you feel the client is fit-to-drive in each instance. You should undertake the task independently and not ask opinions from others during the task itself. It is best if you do the task without taking a break.

Please click on the continue button, not the back or refresh controls whilst working through the scenarios. You cannot return to earlier recommendations.

The decision training aid has been designed to improve professional decision making capacity and the developers are not liable for practice based decision making in the workplace.
